Celebrating the Ipswich Galvanized Festival

Celebrating the Galvanized Festival at Jets

The Jets Leagues Club is proud to stand as a pillar of our local community, supporting events that celebrate our rich heritage. We’re excited to be a part of this year’s Galvanized Festival, Ipswich’s premier festival of heritage, running from August 29th to September 8th.

In honour of this festival, we’ve crafted a special dish: the Workers Cottage Lamb Stew, a timeless meal that pays homage to our shared past. A slow braised winter lamb with Darling Downs root vegetables and served with beef lard damper.

Available from Thursday, August 29 through till Sunday, September 8, you will be able to enjoy this dish in our restaurant, within our Heritage Listed Building.

Be sure to check out all of the festivities around our city as the Galvanized Festival offers a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the best heritage experiences Ipswich has to offer. Over 11 days, you can visit iconic venues and historic sites, participate in open days, tours, demonstrations, workshops, and social events that bring the past to life.

Festival Highlights:

  • First Nations: Celebrate local First Nations heritage with stories, dance, song, and bush foods at the Indigenous Wild Foods & Cultural Festival.
  • Social Events: Relive the historical dance and music of the 1800s, enjoy a post-WWII victory-inspired dinner dance, or visit vintage vehicles and take a steam train ride.
  • Haunted Tours: Explore Ipswich’s most haunted sites with chilling tales of mystery, statues that move, and eerie children’s handprints on cars.
  • Guided Tours: Discover the stories of Ipswich’s past through bus, walking, and floating tours, exploring historic buildings, local watering holes, and the stories of historic families.
  • Visit: Step back in time with experiences in aviation, family history, antiques, and a recreated heritage village, or admire the craftsmanship of quilts and craft from talented artisans.
